Panic Disorder

It is quite normal human behavior to panic in particular situations like earthquakes or fires. To panic without any obvious reason and panic very often and regularly might be among the signs of a panic disorder. 

Some symptoms of panic disorder are:

  • Anxiety: Anxiety occurs with the signs of being and feeling unease. 
  • Panic attacks: Panic attacks can start suddenly and without no apparent reason. Chest pain, dizziness, and sweating are some symptoms of a panic attack.

Treatment of panic disorder helps patients to reduce the frequency of panic attacks. Talking therapy sessions and prescribed medication might be helpful as well.

Adaptation Disorders

Adaptation disorder is a condition that occurs when someone experiences more stress than they expected. A problem at school or work or any unexpected life changes can cause adaptation disorders. Eating Disorders

Exam anxiety or test stress is a condition that usually occurs in school children before and between tests as emotional, behavioral, and physical symptoms like feeling very stressed, panic attacks, rapid heartbeats, shortness of breath, comparing themselves with others, and concentration difficulties.

Make sure your child has a balanced diet. Also, quality sleep is another factor against exam anxiety. Obsessive Disorder

Obsessive disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder is a mental condition in which a person has undesired thoughts and sensations that cause them repeated behaviors. As a result, these repeated behaviors may affect daily tasks and social interactions.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a lifelong, chronic condition.

From a certain point of view, everybody experiences obsessive-compulsive disorder in life. If you check the oven several times before you leave home, it is one of the common obsessive disorders. There is no test for diagnosing obsessive-compulsive disorder. Talk therapies and medications are the two main treatments for obsessive disorder.

Common Anxiety Disorders

An anxiety disorder is a mental condition that makes your daily life activities more difficult. If someone has an anxiety disorder, they usually experience some signs of anxiety such as sweating a lot or having a higher heartbeat rate than normal. An anxiety disorder can cause a person to respond to certain situations with fear.

There are many types of anxiety disorders:

  • Panic disorder: You experience syndromes like sweating and chest pain.
  • Phobias: Phobias are the fears of certain things and situations: blood, flying, snakes, etc…
  • Separation anxiety: Mostly happens in children who worry about being away from their parents.

Attention Deficiency And Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention deficiency and hyperactivity disorder is a chronic condition that affects children mostly. It can continue in older ages too. Symptoms can be mild, moderate, or severe.  Some symptoms of attention deficiency and hyperactivity disorder can be lined up as below:

  • Inattention: Can not stay focused on tasks, do not listen when you talk to them even directly, and forgets to do daily activities.
  • Hyperactivity and impulsivity: Talks too much has difficulty waiting for his or her turn, has difficulty staying seated in the classroom

Sexual Functional Disorder

A sexual functional disorder is a condition that prevents you from a satisfied sexual experience. There are different types of sexual functional disorders:

  • Orgasm disorders
  • Desire disorders
  • Pain disorders
  • Arousal disorders

The sexual functional disorder can affect anyone but usually occurs after older ages, and affects over 40 years old people more, due to aging.

Some symptoms of the sexual functional disorder can be lined up as below:

  • Lack of interest in sex
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Inability to achieve orgasm
  • Inability to control ejaculation

Education, communication, psychotherapy, and mechanical aids such as vacuum devices are some of the treatments for sexual functional disorders.

Dr. İsa Alptuğ Kırık completed his education at Antalya Science High School between 2003-2005 and Private Antalya Science High School between 2005-2007. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2013 and completed his specialization in Ege University Hospital, Department of Psychiatry between 2014-2019. He gained professional experience at Menemen State Hospital between 2019-2021. He professional interests include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders (including schizophrenia), obsessive-compulsive disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
